Melt Banana (sometimes known as MxBx) is a Japanese punk/noise rock group that rock very hard. They met while studying foreign cultures at a Japanese University. The current lineup of the band is: YaSuKo O (vocals) Agata (guitar) Rika mm' (bass) and Oshima (drums). They have a very percusive sound and nonsense english words for lyrics. But that dosen't stop them from being a great band. I unfortunately have never been to a Melt-Banana live show, I do however have the privilage of having a recording of one of their live shows from Jacksonville, Florida. Click here to go get it.

What are they singing?
The lyrics are any english words that come into YaSuKo O's head when she is writing them. That is how the lyrics are made.
Can the band speak english?
Yes, in fact. Yasuko speaks english very well and so do most of the band.
How do they get their unique sound?
The guitar is usually played with lots of distortion. He also does alot of pic scratching and palm mutes. The bass is play often very roughly to get a poping sound. The drums are very sqaure rythems most of the time. But occasionly play very fluid jazz rythms. Mix that in with a load of random screeching lyrics and you have the sound of Melt-Banana.
